Magna-Glide
Frequently Asked Questions

Will they work in my machine?

Magna-Glides are designed with a magnetic core on one end. In order to work properly, a metallic bobbin case like the snap out bobbin cases found on commercial machines and the 6 needle machines by Brother and Babylock. They are not designed for drop in bobbin chases found in most hobby machines.

Instructions:

The magnet tip needs to sit on the bottom of the case, so remove the anti-backlash spring, if there is one.

Load the bobbin with the magnet tip facing inside the bobbin case. With the magnet inside the case, the thread will always come off in the right direction. The magnet also holds the bobbin in the case, so there is no more chasing bobbins across the floor!

Will the magnet hurt my computerized embroidery machine?

No. The magnet is a very low strength and will not harm anything in the machine. However, it's always a good idea to not set anything that is magnetized on a floppy disc.

How are they any different than other prewound bobbins?

The magnetic attracion causes a steady resistance that prevents overspin and allows the thread to be pulled at an even tension from beginning to end.
